Chitchian outlines energy ministry’s plans

TEHRAN Nov 08 (Shana)--16 thousand megawatts of gas burning power plants capacity will convert into combined cycle in the next three years which will help the country to save 100 trillion rials annually.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 14th international power industry exhibition here in Tehran, Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian made the remarks, adding exhibitions are appropriate venues for domestic manufacturers and foreign suppliers where they can meet each other and can benefit from the opportunity for promoting productivity through interaction.
Chitchian said that figures show that water and electricity industry assumed 52 percent of technical and engineering services of the country in the Iranian calendar year 1991 while the figure slid to 35 percent last year and then increased to 93 percent over the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year 1993 as of March 21 2014.
Minister of Energy noted that more than 20 countries enjoy Iran’s technical and engineering services including Iraq, Syria, Oman, Kenya, Tajikistan and Armenia.
According to the official, Iran’s power industry is on the verge of an important development both in terms of quality and quantity.

He continued the ministry expects to boost electricity generation by 5 thousand megawatts annually.
The minister pointed out that power plants’ electricity generating capacity would increase by 33 thousand megawatts within the next three years.
He also said Energy Ministry plans to reduce electricity waste through power lines and distribution network to 10 percent next year.
