According to The Iran Project, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the Iranian president’s special envoy to Afghanistan, made the remarks in a post on X on Sunday, after flash flooding in areas of northern Afghanistan claimed the lives of more than 300 people.

“Iran is ready to send relief teams, medical aid, and other necessary humanitarian items to the affected regions through the Red Crescent and Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation at the request of Afghanistan's officials as soon as possible,” Kazemi Qomi said while expressing sympathy for the victims of the devastating flood.

He also emphasized the importance of clarifying the unbalanced and uncertain procedures governing humanitarian aid acceptance, while referring to the experience of the earthquake in Zendeh Jan, Herat Province, where the crucial hours for saving lives were spent in making decisions and negotiating.

On Friday, devastating floods and torrents of water swept through multiple cities and villages in northern Afghanistan.

Northern Baghlan was the worst impacted. Heavy damage caused by rain was also reported in northern Takhar province, northeastern Badakhshan province, central Ghor province, and western Heart.

Based on reports, more than 300 people have been killed, while dozens were missing and many houses were destroyed.
