TEHRAN, April 13 (MNA) The government has reportedly changed policy in production of low-quality gasoline in domestic refineries to import clean fuel to fight pollution in metropolitan cities.
Sudden and unexpected rise in air pollution in great cities obliged the officials to think out measures to curb the pollution.
Among such measures was increasing production of Euro-IV standard gasoline. However, the amount produced in domestic refineries was not enough to slow down the rate of pollution, and thus the government tripled the import of clean gasoline and ruled the refineries to cut the production of air polluting gasoline.
The Directing Manager of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company said that the government had agreed definitely to rise imports to 10 million liters per day to replace the domestically-produced low-quality gasoline.
Abbas Kazemi said that 3.5 million liters per day of gasoline export would rise to 10 million liters daily.
