EP anti-Iran resolution against Iran-EU growing ties: MPs

Tehran, April 8, IRNA Iranian lawmakers, in a statement read in Iran?s parliament on Tuesday, warned against negative effects of European Parliament?s counterproductive actions.
?Despite the fact that the EP recent resolution included some positive points about Iran, it is an unacceptable action that can affect Iran-EU bilateral talks aimed at boosting relations,? the statement said.

The MPs noted that the EP resolution is a clear interference in Iran?s internal affairs, urging the European Parliament to prove its honesty by issuing a resolution against violation of human rights in Guantanamo prison, genocide of Muslims in Central Africa, Syria and Myanmar.?

Some 258 Majlis lawmakers signed the statement condemning the recent anti-Iran resolution.

The EP passed a resolution on April 3 that expressed concern over the alleged violation of human rights in Iran.

It claimed that Irans presidential election in June 2013, which led to the victory of Hassan Rouhani, was not held according to the EU democratic standards.

Iran has dismissed the resolution as unrealistic and counterproductive at a time when the Islamic Republic and the EU have taken initial steps to normalize bilateral relations.
