TEHRAN Chinese President Xi Jinping says that Beijing will continue to promote a long-term, comprehensive, and proper solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Beijing on Thursday, Xinhua reported.
China and five other world powers, namely France, Russia, the United States, Britain, and Germany, are negotiating with Iran to find a comprehensive solution to the decade-long standoff over Tehrans nuclear program.
Iran and the world powers, known as the 5+1 group, made an interim agreement in November last year according to which Iran agreed not to expand its nuclear program and to suspend its 20 percent uranium enrichment in return for a limited easing of the sanctions imposed on the country. The interim deal came into effect on January 20.
