TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran-Italy non-oil trade value hit $724mln during the first 10 months of the Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2013-January 20, 2014), data from Iran's customs office showed.Based on the recent report released by Iran's Customs, Iran's exports to Italy totaled $121.1mln and its imports reached $603mln during the first 10 months of the Iranian calendar year.
Italy has been the 9th largest market for Iranian goods and the 20th largest one in terms of exports.
Machineries, mechanical devices, pharmaceutical supplementary and transmission lift were Iran's imports from Italy over the last 10 months.
Raw skins of animals, hand-woven carpet, steel and iron, urea, engine parts, car spares, saffron and cast iron were the most important Iranian exports to Italy.
On Tuesday, Italian Justice Minister Anna Maria Cancellieri reiterated that her country attaches special importance to its relations with Iran and is seeking to widen legal cooperation with the Muslim nation.
Italy is ready to develop mutual cooperation with Iran in legal fields, specially exchange of judicial delegations between the two countries, Cancellieri said in a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Rome Jahanbakhsh Mozaffari in Rome on Monday.
Earlier this month, Chairman of the Italian Senate's Foreign Policy Commission Pier Ferdinando Casini said Iran's influential presence and positive stances on the regional and international scenes have caused the statesmen and politicians in Rome to seize the opportunity for expanding ties with Tehran.
Late in December, Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino in a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed Irans key role in the region, and said her country is eager to use Tehrans experiences and potentials in settling the regional crises. During the meeting, Bonino said that Italy while contributing to the promotion of Iran-Europe ties, hopes to be able to have joint cooperation with Iran in solving regional issues.
Italy is eager to expand cooperation with Iran in economic, industrial, energy, tourism, science and research domains, she added.
