2nd Startup Weekend to be held in Tehran in November
Following the huge success of the first Startup Weekend in Tehran, the second event is going to be held in Irans capital, Tehran, on November 7.

The event, which was held on September 10, attracted more than 120 highly motivated developers, graphic artists, and Web designers who transformed their ideas into viable products in just 54 hours.

A record-breaking 70 pitches were presented and 12 large teams formed around top ideas determined by popular vote. The teams included O Character, Klassor, Quick App, Langgo, Online Insurance, Boice, Divar-e Shahr (City Wall), Smart Toucher, Khbabar-e Khosh (good news), Where to go?, Dakhl va Kharj (financial balance) and Lenzkade.

30 mentors provided insight and critical notes along the way and the early stage startups presented to 10 members of the jury on Friday evening. Three teams Boice, Where to go and Klassor were chosen in final evaluation by the events judges respectively .

The event was held at the Kherad Institute and was coordinated by Mohsen Malayeri, the founder and CEO of Khavarzamin Company, a Tehran-based Web services firm that manages a range of e-commerce sites and social networks.

Startup Weekend is a US-based non-profit organization comprising of active entrepreneurs who are attempting to learn how to found their startups and launch successful ventures. This global grassroots movement has held more than 400 gathering in 100 countries around the world in 2011.
