Iran-Egypt ties, loss to enemies- Deputy FM

Tehran, Dec 15, IRNA Deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs said Sunday that cordial relations between the Iranian and Egyptian nations will be a great loss to their enemies.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Egyptian political figures and media officials.

Amir-Abdollahian said the enemies of the Iranian and Egyptian nations are trying to create a poisonous atmosphere in Tehran-Cairo ties.

He further said the Egyptian nation should not let democracy be shaken in their country.

On the issue of Palestine, the Iranian diplomat said Iran and Egypt have common concern about plight of Palestinians, calling for the need for the occupying regime to withdraw from the Palestinian territories.

He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran expects the great Egyprian nation to preserve the achievements gained in the course of the Islamic Awakening Movement in Egypt.

The Egyptian figures, for their part, put forward their views about the latest developments in their country and the region.

On the threat posed to peace and security of the Middle East by Israelal, the Egyptian intellectuals called for Israel to sign up to Non-Proliferation Treaty and open up its weapons of mass destruction to international organizations in charge of destroying stockpiles of WMDs.
