BEIRUT: British Foreign SecretaryWilliam Haguecondemned Tuesday what he described as 'shocking terrorist attacks on theIranian Embassyin Beirut,' saying his country was strongly committed to supporting stability in Lebanon.
I strongly condemn the shocking terrorist attack on the Iranian embassy in SouthernBeiruttoday that has led to such tragic loss of life. I send my condolences to the families of those killed and injured, Hague said in a statement.
TheUKis strongly committed to supporting stability inLebanonand seeing those responsible for this attack brought to justice, he added.
At least 25 people were killed and over 100 wounded in a suicide attack on the Iranian Embassy in the Beirut neighborhood ofBirHasan, a predominantly Shiite area.
Hague also said that theBritish Embassyin Beirut remained at a high state of vigilance and that a consular team stands ready to assist British nationals.
