Afghan government appreciates Iranian envoy’s visit

Kabul, Nov 17, IRNA – Afghan governemnt on Sunday appreciated a visit to Kabul by Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia-Pacific Affairs Mohammad-Ebrahim Rahimpour.
Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Janan Mosazai told reporters at his weekly press conference that during his stay in Afghanistan, Rahimpour will meet and confer with senior Afghan officials on bilateral relations, regional developments, and the current meeting of Loya Jirga deliberating on draft of Afghan security pact with the United States.

President Hamid Karzai has convened Loya Jirga (assembly of the elderly) seeking consultation with the Afghan religious and political leaders about the draft of a security pact the Afghan government prepares to sign with the United States.

IRNA reporter in Kabul said that Rahimpour will exchange views with senior Afghan officials on the upcoming presidential and provincial councils elections and Iran-Afghanistan trade through Chabahar port.
