Zarif calls for expansion of cultural cooperation among world countries

Paris, Nov 6, IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday called for developing cultural cooperation among nations to serve international friendship and understanding.

Zarif made the remarks in his speech to general conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.


During his speech, Zarif highlighted the significant role of culture to shape global developments mainly after the year 2015.

Denouncing hostility and confrontation, he said all problems should be resolved through negotiations and international understanding.

UNESCO as the global cultural organization should play its crucial and historical role to help cultural understanding in the international community serving peace and security the main pillars of sustainable development, he said.

Zarif is scheduled to leave Paris for Geneva later in the day to attend two-day nuclear talks with representatives of Group 5+1 led by EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton due to open on Thursday.

Zarif arrived in Paris on Tuesday and conferred with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on issues of mutual interests, regional and global developments.
