Iran, Italy FMs discuss regional developments

The Iran Project : The foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Italy held a phone conversation on Friday night, discussing the issues related to Tehran-Rome bilateral relations and the latest regional developments.

According to The Iran Project,In the phone conversation with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian expressed Tehran's readiness to further expand relations with Rome.

Iran has always been a positive part of regional developments and has contributed a lot to the stability and security of the region, the top Iranian diplomat said.

Referring to the importance of maritime security, including in the Red Sea, Amir-Abdollhian called on Italy to use the opportunity of its G7 presidency to try to end the genocide and war crimes of the Israeli regime in Gaza and the West Bank.

Tajani, for his part, emphasized the necessity of developing bilateral relations and cooperation between Iran and Italy.

He also called for the restraint of the Islamic Republic of Iran in response to the Zionist regime's attack on the consular section of the country's embassy in Damascus.

Following the Israeli attack on the Iranian embassy, ​​we condemned this attack together with the European Union, he said, adding that obviously, diplomatic sites should not be invaded.

Considering Iran's positive role in reducing tensions, Italy demands the continuation of this path for establishing sustainable peace in the region, Tajani stressed.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran's consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus on April 1. The Israeli aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the martyrdom and injury of the entire people inside it.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred following the Israeli attack on Iran's consulate in Damascus on Monday, IRGC said in a statement.

Reacting to the Israeli aggression, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kan'ani on Monday night said that the Islamic Republic of Iran, while reserving its rights to take countermeasures, decides on the type of reaction and punishment of the aggressor.
