According to The Iran Project, the company made the statement in response to thecomments of the head of the Tehran city council who said, "It is unlikelythat electric buses to be delivered this year".

Iran Khodro had inked a memorandum of understanding with Tehran Municipality for the production and delivery of 100 vehicles.

Meanwhile, the first buyer of the Iran Khodro Diesel electric bus was the municipality of Karaj province. Based on the investigations, some have been delivered and thus the transport of Karaj province has become the first fully electric bus in the country.

It is worth mentioning that a month ago (November 28th), with the presence of the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, the mass production line of the first all-electric bus was inaugurated.

Iran Khodro Diesel’s electric bus named E-Atros was unveiled on March 13.

Afterward, the mass production of that bus with an annual production capacity of 4,000 vehicles began at Iran Khodro Diesel on November 28.

Operating on batteries and without the use of an overhead Catenary System, this fully electric vehicle is based on the platform and chassis of Iran Khodro Diesel’s E-Atros diesel-powered bus, but with a new design.

Powered by a 350-kWh battery, E-Atros has an electric motor that is capable of producing 470 horsepower and 3500 Nm of instantaneous torque.
