Iran builds 4,000 MW solar power plant

The Iran Project : Iran’s energy ministry inked the contract for the construction of 4,000 megawatts of solar power plants with domestic investors on Monday.

According to The Iran Project, based on this, the investors of the 4 winning companies in the tender were selected in the form of five baskets, including 2 baskets of 1500 MW and 3 baskets of 500 MW, for 4000 MW.

With the implementation of this contract, the investors undertake to connect the power plants with a total capacity of 4000 megawatts of solar electricity energy to the national grid until the maximum electricity peak of 2024.

Iran has put using renewable energies on a high agenda to tackle the electricity shortage in the country.
 
The total capacity being planned for the development of renewable power plants is 30,000 megawatts, about 11,600 megawatts of renewable power plants with specific facilities are under construction and are expected to be completed within two years.
 
The electricity generated by Iranian renewable power plants in the seventh Iranian calendar month of Mehr (ended on October 22) increased by 17.4 percent compared to the previous month.

Based on the latest data released by the Iranian Energy Ministry, the capacity of the country’s renewable power plants also increased by 1.85 percent in the mentioned month as compared to the previous month.

The capacity of wind power plants was 364.89 megawatts (MW) by the end of Mehr. Also, the capacity of solar power plants reached 477.65 MW by the end of the mentioned month.
