The Iran Project : The new Consul General of Iran in the Republic of Nakhchivan says with the implementation of the Aras Corridor, Tehran is on the verge of becoming an essential part of the regional network that covers from Central Asia to Europe.

According to The Iran Project Aziz Mansouri made the remarks during a meeting with the mayor of Tabriz on Saturday.

In a strategic move, the governments of Azerbaijan and Iran are seeking to start a new joint plan that has the capacity to change the geopolitical dynamics in the Caucasus, Mansouri stated.

The Consul General went on to note that the development of the infrastructure of transit exchanges and rail transportation with the countries of the region to be effective in realizing Iran's international goals.

Enjoying global capacities and infrastructures for the development of interactions with the member countries, Tabriz city is one of the three cities introduced by Iran to the "BRICS" group.

Iran will become an official member of the "BRICS" group from the beginning of 2024, and this issue is effective in advancing economic goals in the international arena, he added.

In August, heads of the BRICS group of developing nations have invited six states – Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE – to become new members of the bloc.

The expansion is set to take place on January 1, 2024. Mohammad Jamshidi, the Iranian president’s deputy chief of staff for political affairs, had described Iran’s membership as a “historic development” and a “strategic success” for the country’s foreign policy.
