MFA says Iran supports Oman's initiative on JCPOA revival

The Iran Project - According to Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Naser Kanani, Tehran is in favor of the proposal put forward by Oman to revive the JCPOA (the joint comprehensive plan of action).

Kanani emphasized that Iran has consistently expressed its commitment to the negotiation process and sees it as the appropriate approach.

He clarified that the initiatives suggested by friendly countries, including Oman's plan, are not new agreements but rather efforts to bridge the gap between all parties involved and ensure their compliance within the existing framework of the JCPOA deal.

The multilateral diplomatic efforts to revive the landmark 2015 nuclear deal have been at a standstill since August 2022, with Iran blaming the United States for its refusal to lift the sanctions imposed under the nuclear agreement and provide guarantees against future withdrawal.

Kanani also mentioned the visit of Armenia's Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, to Iran, during which he reported on the latest developments in the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Iran's position on the conflicts in the Caucasus region is clear it advocates for responsible negotiations and peaceful resolutions, opposes any changes in regional geopolitics, and rejects external interference.

Besides, referring to the issue of relations between Iran and Egypt, Kanani said that positive developments have taken place in this regard so far and the two countries will continue contacts and negotiations.
