Iran ready to negotiate last years draft agreement on JCPOA revival: FM

The Iran Project - Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, has announced that Iran is ready to resume negotiations with world powers to lift sanctions based on the "September document."

He made the comments at a meeting of the Iranian Foreign Ministrys senior officials with a group of university professors of political science and international relations.

The document refers to a draft agreement prepared last fall during negotiations in Vienna to revive the nuclear deal and remove sanctions against Iran.

The negotiations stalled as the US refused to guarantee it would not leave the agreement again.

The top diplomat emphasized Iran's efforts to neutralize Western-led sanctions while remaining open to negotiations.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to negotiate the September [draft] document for the realization of the rights of the Iranian nation and the removal of sanctions, while maintaining its red lines, he noted.

He, moreover, highlighted the retrieval of Iran's assets from the UK and South Korea as examples of this effort.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the foreign minister pointed to Irans growing cooperation with regional and international organizations, adding, The membership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS is a big step that bespeaks the high status and capacities of the Islamic Republic among the world's emerging economies.

Iran has been engaged in indirect talks with the US, mediated by Qatar, to unfreeze its blocked assets. As part of these talks, a prisoner exchange deal has also been reached.
