Iran's foreign minister to visit Saudi Arabia: Report

The Iran Project - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian is set to visit the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh in the near future, a report said.

This visit is seen as a response to the recent diplomatic visit by Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, to Tehran, Tasnim quoted Iran Nuances as saying.

While in Tehran on June 17, 2023, the Saudi minister held talks with Iran's foreign minister and President Ebrahim Raisi.

The visit is expected to focus on bilateral matters and is scheduled for August 17.

The Saudi Embassy in Tehran has already conveyed a diplomatic communication to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirming the uninterrupted operations of the embassy.

The Saudi Charg d'affaires arrived in Tehran a few weeks ago, and the new Iranian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and the incoming Saudi Ambassador to Tehran have obtained the necessary approvals but have not yet assumed their official positions.

The Saudi diplomats in Tehran have been conducting their activities from a hotel while waiting for repairs to be completed at the Saudi embassy.

Following Irans President Raisis trip to the Chinese capital of Beijing in February, Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani started intensive talks with his Saudi counterpart on March 6 in Beijing for the purpose of finalizing a deal to resolve differences between the Islamic Republic and Saudi Arabia.

Finally after seven years of deadlock, at the end of the negotiations, a three-way statementwas signed to this effect by Shamkhani, the Iranian security chief, Musaid bin Muhammad al-Ayban, Saudi Arabias security chief, and Wang Yi, a member of the Chinese State Council.
