Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria Faisal Mekdad arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a series of political and economic negotiations.

Heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation, the top Syrian diplomat is visiting Tehran with the purpose of pursuing the implementation of the agreements between Syria and Iran previously.

Accompanied by Syria�s minister of economy and foreign trade and minister of communications and technology, Mekdad is going to focus on plans to carry out the bilateral deals signed during a visit by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Damascus in early May.

During the presidential visit, Raisi and his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad signed a comprehensive agreement on long-term and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Syria�s ambassador to Tehran Shafiq Dayoub has announced that the Iran-Syria Joint Committee will be making efforts in its meetings to remove the obstacles to the expansion of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
