Iran, IAEA enjoy stable ties based on March agreement: Nuclear chief

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) says Tehran and the UN nuclear watchdog have continuous and stable interactions based on an agreement reached months ago.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet session on Wednesday, Mohammad Eslami said Irans relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are based on a joint statement the two sides issued in March, which was based on the safeguards agreement and the NPT.

Regarding the two remaining sites, we have sent the evidence and documents to the Agency, he said. If they are not accepted, we will further clarify and provide more evidence and documents.

He also said that according to an approved plan which was recently underlined by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, we are trying to increase the electricity production to 20,000 megawatts.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Eslami said one of Irans most important achievements is the ability to prepare yellowcake from phosphates to add it to the uranium enrichment process.

Also, in order for us to be able to operate small-scale reactors that use radioactive material called thorium, we concluded the research on fuel this month, the Iranian nuclear chief added.
