Iran, UAE FMs review ways to expand Tehran-Abu Dhabi relations

Emirati sources reported that the Iranian Foreign Minister and Emirati counterpart have explored avenues to strengthen Tehran-Abu Dhabi ties over the phone on Sunday.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has received a phone call from Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Emirates News Agency reported.

During the call, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties and joint cooperation between their countries to achieve their mutual benefits and support the stability and prosperity of the region and its people.

Back in June, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian had taken a trip to UAE, met with his Arab counterpart, and placed a premium on the need for the promotion of cooperation between the two neighbors.

The two held talks on issues of mutual interest, regional developments, and expansion of bilateral relations.

The areas of cooperation between Iran and the UAE in various political, economic, commercial, consular, cultural, and scientific fields were among the matters of discussion.

Also earlier in the day, Amir-Abdollahian had held a meeting with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The Iranian foreign minister and the President of the United Arab Emirates shared views on enhancing bilateral cooperation, especially in the trade and economic fields
