'No obstacle gets in way of Irans enhancing ties with neighbors'

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has stated that no obstacle can hinder the expansion of the Islamic Republics relations with its neighbors.

Addressing a meeting of high-profile delegations of Iran and Uzbekistan in Tehran on Sunday, Raisi said the enhancement of Tehran-Tashkent relations would be beneficial to both nations.

The executive chief placed a premium on drawing up a roadmap for developing comprehensive cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan and implementing bilateral agreements.

He then said Iran's active and successful participation in the international industrial exhibition in Tashkent in April demonstrated Tehran's resolve to improve mutual trade and commercial relations.

Raisi urged the relevant ministers of both countries to come up with a list of goods for preferential tariffs within the next two weeks, based on a bilateral agreement on preferential trade.

Pointing to historical and civilizational ties between Iran and Uzbekistan, Raisi noted the two countries enjoy capacities for the improvement of cooperation.

The Iranian president said the current visit by his Uzbek counterpart to Tehranis a major step towards deepening cooperation.

He went on to say that he two countries seek to double trade exchanges in the first phase and then increase them to three billion dollars.

The Iranian president urged both countries to follow up on bilateral agreements in the fields of economy and trade, transportation and transit, science and technology, agriculture, and medical and pharmaceutical equipment in order to develop relations and exchange capacities.

The Iranian chief executive said the country has managed to turn threats and sanctions into an opportunity for progress.

The president expressed Iran's readiness to share its experience in various scientific and economic fields with Uzbekistan.

The president stressed thatthe Islamic Republic does not see any obstacles in the way ofexpanding relations with neighboring countries.
