The senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ali Akbar Velayati met with Chinese ambassador to Tehran Chang Hua, discussing bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues.
Stressing on the importance of strengthening and developing strategic relations between Iran and China, Velayati said, �Beijing is pursuing its communication development plan, especially in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative and in this regard, using Iran�s capacities and crossing this route through our country is seriously on the agenda and should be followed up�.


Pointing to the current situation in Afghanistan, Velayati stated, �Consultation between Iran and China regarding the future of Afghanistan will be vital and constructive. The only solution to Afghanistan�s crisis is to form an inclusive government that all people support it. Moreover, the continuation of negotiations between acting leaders of Afghanistan and neighbors in order to create an inclusive government is very important�.


Emphasizing Iran�s support of the One China principle, Velayati said, �We must stand against the conspiracies, attacks and threats of the enemies and we strongly condemn US� actions�.


�Undoubtedly, cooperation between Iran, Russia and China in the region such as holding joint drills is essential for security and fate of the region and Iran as the most important country in Islamic world is ready to further expand cooperation. Cooperation can become more active in the Middle East because the Middle East is the political heart of the world and Iran has the most influence in it. Also, the formation of a new pole between Russia and China will be the source of new and impactful developments,� he noted.


The Chinese ambassador to Iran, for his part, stressed on strengthening and developing cooperation between Tehran and Beijing, saying that the cooperation should be followed and strengthened seriously.
