Iranian FM: US, west should account for crimes in Middle-East

FNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underlined his country's distrust of the US and other western states, saying that they should account for their crimes in the Middle-East region.

"The arena of international relations is not a place to trust and the Islamic Republic should never trust any country," Zarif said, addressing a meeting in the Central city of Qom on Monday.

"From now on, Iran will be in a position of questioning in all affairs done with the West and the US and they should account for their criminal acts in the Middle-East region," he added.

In relevant remarks in February, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei cautioned the Iranian officials not to trust European states, and said that the EU was exactly as untrustworthy as the US.

"Do not trust the Europeans as in the matter of nuclear negotiations, I had already mentioned that the US officials are not reliable," he said, addressing the officers and commanders of the Iranian Army's Air Force in a meeting in Tehran.

"My advice would be that they (the Europeans) should not be trusted, just like the US cannot be trusted," Ayatollah Khamenei said while referring to the discussions concerning the Europeans and their proposals for Iran.

He went to say that today the officials who accepted to negotiate admit that the Americans were not reliable.

The Leader, meantime, pointed to the US' anti-Iran rhetoric, and said, "The US regime is the embodiment of evil and violence; a crisis-maker and a warmonger.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the US as the embodiment of evil and violence whose existence relies on encroachment on other countries' sovereignty.

Referring to US President Donald Trump's remarks about Iran in his State of the Union address on Tuesday, the Leader reiterated that the Iranian nation will keep chanting "Death to America" as long as the United States remains evil.

He said that "Death to America means death to the few people ruling the country; we dont mean the American nation."
