Zarif reveals reasons why Iran sympathizes with Yemenis

IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif in a message disclosed the reasons why Iran sympathizes with Yemeni people.

Today in 1986: Iraqi planesprovided to Saddam through $75b Saudi financingbombed an Iranian city for 105 mins. It was the longest aerial assault since WWII, killing & injuring over 1000 civilians. One reason we feel for Yemeni civilians targeted by the latest Saudi coalition, Zarif tweeted on Sunday.

The IranIraq War was an armed conflict between the two countries, beginning on 22 September 1980, when Iraq invaded Iran, and ending on 20 August 1988, when Iran accepted the UN-brokered ceasefire.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating military campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the aim of bringing the government of Mansour Hadi back to power and crushing the countrys Houthi Ansarullah Movement.

Some 16,000 Yemenis have been killed and thousands more injured since the onset of the Saudi-led aggression.

The assaults of the Saudi-led coalition forces have failed to stop the Yemenis from resisting the aggression. Recently, the Yemeni army unveiled its home-made underground missile launching pads.
