EU foreign ministers announced Monday that due to lack of progress on nuclear talks with Iran a ban on oil imports from this country will go ahead as planned on July 1.
On January 23, 2012, the 27-nation bloc voted to ban oil imports from Iran and phase out existing contracts by July 1.
The EU sanctions were imposed earlier this year and Iran is already under four sets of U.N. sanctions and measures levied by the United States.
In response to the unilateral impending EU oil embargo, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast warned on Tuesday that this unreasonable and unlawful measure will not have a positive impact on our relationships with European countries and Iran-G5+1 nuclear talks, IRNA reported.
Ramin Mehmanparast added, such measures not only have destructive effects on the negotiations between Iran and the P5 +1, but it will make the crisis situation in Europe worse.
The new round of talks over the Iranian nuclear crisis between Tehran and the six of world powers slated for July 3, two days after implementing EU oil embargo against Iran,but informed sources in Iran have said that if the EU oil sanction is implemented, it seems unlikely that Iranian side would be presented in the negotiations.
