Iran's share of world steel industry to reach 2.6% by 2025

IRNA Iran has plans to gain a 2.6% share of the world steel industry by 2025, according to an Iranian mining official.

Shamseddin Siasi Rad, the director of training, research and technological affairs of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), said on Sunday that under the provisions of Iran's 2025 Vision Plan, the country will be producing 55 million tons of unprocessed steel annually by 2025.

Official statistics suggest that Iran was the fourth biggest word steel producer in 2016, producing some 18 million tons of the mineral, the official said.
