Iran urges stronger ties with Kazakhstan
The Secretary of Irans Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) says the expansion of bilateral ties between the Islamic Republic and Kazakhstan would pave the way for the further activation of the common capacities of both countries.
The common capacities of the two sides will be further activated with the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the various political, economic and security fields, Saeed Jalili said in a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on Thursday.
The Iranian official further said the existence of common views and common interests between Iran and Kazakhstan and the existence of common threats against the two countries necessitate the enhancement of the Tehran-Astana ties.

The Kazakh official, for his part, called for the reinforcement of cooperation with the Islamic Republic in various fields.

Heading the Iranian nuclear negotiation team, Jalili left Tehran for Almaty for the second round of talks with the six major world powers in the Kazak city on Wednesday.

Iran and the P5+1 (China, Russia, France, Britain and the US plus Germany) have held several rounds of talks with a focus on the Iranian nuclear energy program. The last round of negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 group was held in Almaty on February 26-27.

The US, Israel and some of their allies claim that Iran is pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program, with the US and the European Union using the false claim as pretext to impose illegal sanctions against Iran.

Tehran rejects the allegation about its nuclear energy activities, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
