Post-sanctions era good opportunity for improving economy: MP

Tehran, Sept 1, IRNA Post-sanctions era is a good opportunity for improving the economy, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said.

Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency on Thursday, Boroujerdi said that following the nuclear deal, western countries have improved relations with Iran.

Boroujerdi said that the post-sanctions era should be exploited as an opportunity for promoting the Economy of Resistance, the economic development model adopted by Iran based on the guidelines set by the Supreme Leader.

He referred to developments in Iraq, Syria, Palestine and Yemen and said that Saudi policies in the region doomed to defeat.

US officials are provoking Saudis to adopt anti-Iran policies, the lawmaker said.

He said that Iran has good potentials for development of cooperation with the neighboring countries.

Iran should improve relations with the world countries particularly its neighbors as precondition for boosting its exports and improving the national economy, the MP added.

He noted that there are both positive and negative aspects as far as the nuclear deal reached between Iran and G5+1 is concerned.

Speaking about the positive aspects of the nuclear deal, known also as the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action, Boroujerdi said closing the case by the International Atomic Energy Agency on Iran's so-called Possible Military Dimension (PMD) served to be an important development.

Some sanctions have been lifted and Iran has already received its due share in the oil market, the official said.

Boroujerdi said that Iran should pursue the complete removal of sanctions based on the JCPOA.

Speaking about the critics of the nuclear deal putting the government under pressure, the lawmaker noted that first steps were taken by the Islamic establishment to engage in negotiations with world powers on the Islamic Republic's peaceful nuclear program.

Resolution of our economic problems should not be preconditioned on addressing the JCPOA issues, he said.
