Noshahr, Mazandaran prov, Sept 1, IRNA - Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi in this northern province on Thursday cited Iran's determination to safeguard peace in global arenas as most pivotal policy in the military arenas.

Speaking in a local gathering, Boroujerdi underscored that defense abilities of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic have reached such an extent that no countries dare to attack Iran.

Commenting on the powerful presence of Iranian naval force in the international waters and high seas and their capabilities in tackling pirates, he added at present several countries are suffering from piracy and maritime terrorism.

Touching upon the country's military situation before the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the current situation, he added Islamic Republic of Iran is considered a top country in terms of enjoying missile powers.

Pointing to Iran's north-south strategic positions and its access to seas, Boroujerd stressed that Iran should employ this opportunity properly.

Speaking in the same gathering, Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said navy forces have escorted some 3,200 merchant vessels in the Gulf of Aden in recent years.

Sayyari underscored that the Iranian Navy has expanded its operational zone in Makran coastline and the southeastern port city of Chabahar in 10-degree latitude based on valuable guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
