Enemies pushing for Irans geopolitical isolation, speaker warns

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani cautioned against hostile attempts to isolate Iran geopolitically in the post-JCPOA era, calling for the enhancement of relations with the regional countries to thwart that plot.jcpoa

Given Irans regional clout and the influence of the Islamic Revolution, the enemies have hatched plots, in cooperation with certain regional countries, to mount pressure on the country and isolate it geopolitically after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Larijani said at a joint meeting of the administration and the parliament, held in Tehran on Sunday evening.

To counter that conspiracy, we need to expand political, cultural and economic relations with the regional countries, particularly with neighbors, the speaker stressed.

He further emphasized the need for closer cooperation between the administrations and the legislature to get the most out of the JCPOA, the lasting nuclear deal between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

The pressing matter at present is preparing the ground for the attraction of local and foreign investment, making efforts to fully terminate the sanctions and focusing on the regional issues following the nuclear deal, he noted.

Back in June, Larijani blamed the other side of the JCPOA for seeking to put Tehran in trouble and mount pressure on it with excessive demands.

He had insisted that the administration, parliament and a committee tasked with monitoring the JCPOA implementation should remain vigilant and block the US excessive demands.
