TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran plans to hold hand-woven carpet exhibition in Atlanta, United States, next year, said Head of Iranian National Carpet Center Hamid Kargar.
He further said that a delegation comprising of US traders are going to meet with Iranian carpet activists in Germany in the near future.
He said that the US is one of key customers of Iranian carpet, adding that carpet sanctions will be lifted by early 2016, and that Iran can again witness exporting carpet to the country.
Carpet-weaving traces its origins to ancient Persia and is mingled with the Iranian art and culture. Renowned for their exquisite patterns, natural dyes and skilled knit, handcrafted Iranian rugs are a fixture in hotel chains, big mansions and embassies.
Iranian rugs dominated the US market with a 16.5% share worth $82 million before the sanctions. China, Pakistan and India used the vacuum
