No deal on Irans nuclear program yet despite many solved issues

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that it is time for P5+1 to make tough decisions and to lift all sanctions against Iran.


LAUSANNE (Sputnik) No deal onthe Iranian nuclear program has been struck yet butmany issues have been resolved, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Sunday.

"There is no deal yet, butwe have found solutions tomany issues," Araqchi said inan interview withIranian television.

Iran demands that all sanctions and UN resolutions imposing crippling restrictions againstTehran be scrapped aspart ofits nuclear deal withmajor world powers, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.

"It is time forP5+1 tomake tough decisions and tolift all sanctions," Araqchi told journalists atthe ongoing talks inLausanne, Switzerland.
Over the pastdecades, the UN Security Council, the United States, the European Union and a number ofother countries imposed sanctions onIran ina bid tocurtail its nuclear ambition asthey suspected Iran oftrying tobuild an atomic bomb underthe guise ofa peaceful energy program.
"There is no deal yet, butwe have found solutions tomany issues," Araqchi said, adding that the two unresolved issues concerned Iran's nuclear activities and sanctions againstTehran.

A new roundof talks betweenIran and six major world powers Britain, France, China, Russia, the United States and Germany are convening atBeau Rivage Palace Hotel inthe Swiss resort city ofLausanne.

The negotiators are working towardsthe interim deadline that expires byTuesday night when they are expected tohammer outa provisional framework deal, tobe followed bya final agreement insummer.
