London, March 9, IRNA Head of Iran-UK parliamentary friendship group Abbasali Mansouri Arani said Iran is after expanding relations with the world based on its national interests.

Talking to IRNA, he said Iran is seeking to grow its global relations but not at any account.

As for the reopening of the UK Embassy in Tehran, the parliamentarian said Iran will help the procedure if London is willing to do so.

He said the visit of the Iranian parliamentary delegation to London focuses on meetings with the Iranians living in London, holding talks with Cambridge University students and scholars, British Parliament members and the UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Philip Hammond.

The Iranian lawmaker alsi said his talks with the British Parliament and Foreign Offfice officials will focus on ways to fight terrorism and narcotics trafficking.

Environment and economic issues will be among other topics to be discussed, he added.

The Iranian parliamentary delegation departed Tehran for London for an official visit on Monday.

The visit takes place at the invitation of Jack Straw, the head of Britain-Iran parliamentary friendship group.

Former UK foreign Secretary Jack Straw, who is also a Labor Party MP for Blackburn, visited the Iranian capital in January, 2014 at the head of a delegation.

Addressing the problems facing Iranian expatriates living in Britain, the expansion of parliamentary ties, and pursuing the problems in line with reopening the British Embassy (in Tehran) within the framework of international law, are among issues at the top of the agenda during the delegation's visit to Britain.

Britain and Iran downgraded their relations to the lowest level in autumn 2011, following the UK support for sanctions against Tehran that led to a vote by a large majority of Iranian MPs to downgrade diplomatic ties with Britain.

Later, a group of Iranian students stormed the British Embassy in Tehran and Britain withdrew its diplomatic staff from the country on November 30, 2011 and asked Iran's diplomatic delegation in London to leave within 48 hours.

Iran and Britain agreed in October last year to appoint non-resident charg daffaires as a first step toward reopening their respective embassies.
