First VP: Iran not to give up N. rights

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said Tehran will not give up its right to use the peaceful nuclear technology, stressing that Iran's nuclear rights should be recognized by the western powers.
"In the nuclear issue, we should institutionalize Iran's nuclear rights in the world in a desirable way and prove to everyone that we will not give up our rights," Jahangiri said, addressing the administrative council of the Western province of Hamedan on Tuesday afternoon.

"The world has understood that it shouldnt speak with the great Iranian nation with the language of force," he said, adding that Iran is a stable and secure island in the volatile Middle-East region.

Elsewhere, Jahangiri referred to Iran's efforts to fight terrorism, and said, "Based on an unwritten admission, the westerners, themselves, know that it is only the Islamic Republic that can bring ISIL down from the stage."

In relevant remarks late December, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani stressed that Tehran would powerfully continue the talks with the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, France and Britain plus Germany), but would never give up its inalienable nuclear rights.

We have neither compromised over Irans nuclear rights, nor will ever do so, and there is no doubt that the Iranian nuclear technology will remain functioning, said President Rouhani in a TV interview, stressing that today the negotiating sides have believed that resorting to pressure and sanctions were useless in dealing with the Iranian nation.

Also yesterday, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan emphasized that the government is determined to defend the country's full nuclear rights in the negotiations with the six world powers.

"The nuclear issue is sensitive and vital for the government and it is resolved to prove Iran's righteousness in the world by meeting the Islamic Republic's redlines and attaining its goals and interests," Dehqan said, addressing a meeting in the western province of Lorestan on Tuesday.

"Restoration of the Iranian nation's rights is possible only through protecting its honor and if this trend continues, a proper atmosphere will be created for international interactions," he added.

The 10th and last round of negotiations between Iran and the six world powers was held in Vienna from November 18 to 24.

In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations until November 24 after they failed to reach an agreement on a number of key issues.
