Judiciary chief criticizes powers? double standard towards human rights

Tehran, Aug 5, IRNA Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli Larijani on Tuesday criticized dominant powers? double standard approach towards human rights around the world.
Addressing a ceremony held to celebrate the ?Islamic Human Rights and Human Dignity Day?, he censured manipulation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by world powers and using it as a political tool.
The so-called human rights advocates have changed the UDHR to a worthless piece of paper, Larijani added.

He underlined that massacre of Gaza people by the Zionist regime is a real test for claimants of human rights.

Deploring the US for its 225 million dollar aid package to Israel, the cleric said it was disgraceful for certain claimants of human rights to reward the Zionist regime for its crimes.

In the meantime, the so-called human rights advocates censure Iran for being undemocratic spite the fact that 30 free elections have been held in the country over the past three decades, Larijani said.

The ceremony was attended by members of the diplomatic corps including Muslim ambassadors and high ranking Iranian officials.

August 5 was proposed by Iran as ?Islamic Human Rights and Human Dignity Day? and unanimously endorsed by the 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the 35th meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Kampala, Uganda.
