President Rouhani condoles with Algeria over plane crash disaster

Tehran, July 24, IRNA -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani extended his condolences to the Algerian government and nation on the sad occasion of the death of the country?s nationals in a recent plane crash.
In a message addressed to Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, President Rouhani voiced Tehran?s condolence with the Algerian people and government over the death of a group of Algerians in a passenger plane which crashed on Thursday.
?The news on the downing of the Algerian passenger plane deeply depressed me,? President Rouhani said in his message, adding, ?I sincerely condole with Your Excellency and the noble Algerian nation on the death of innocent passenger and flight crews of this plane in the sad incidence.?

Algerian aviation authorities lost contact with an Air Algeria aircraft en route from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso to Algiers.

Contact with flight AH 5017 was lost about 50 minutes after take-off, according to the APS state news agency.

An Algerian official was quoted as saying that the missing plane is Airbus A320 carrying 116 passengers, Reuters reported.
