IRISL eying removal of sanctions

IRISL eying removal of sanctions
TEHRAN (Tasnim) The technical deputy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) said global shipping sector is eying the removal of anti-Iran sanctions, expressing hope that current nuclear negotiations in Vienna would deal with IRISL sanctions.

Global shipping sector is eying the removal of anti-Iran sanctions and restrictions, said a senior official from the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL), expressing the hope that the issue of IRISL sanctions be brought up in the ongoing nuclear negotiations in Vienna.

IRISL Deputy Director for Technical and Commercial Affairs, Ali Ezati told Tasnim that it is expected that during this round of negotiations between Iran and the G5+1 (five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany), restrictions on Iranian ships and shipping companies will be removed.

Currently there is a positive atmosphere in the Iranian shipping sector and the absence of fresh sanctions following Geneva interim is also very promising, said Ezati.

He also emphasized that among the key priorities of the IRISL are the removal of Iranian ships from the sanctions list, overturning ban on traffic of Iranian ships to European ports, and removing the ban of South Korea transportation sector as well as marine insurance.

European Union sanctions against Iran have meant insurers based in Europe - who account for the majority of cover for the tanker market - cannot insure Iranian oil tankers and other vessels.
