Iran captures 20 terrorist groups in 6 months
TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran has dismantled nearly two dozen terrorist groups in the Eastern parts of the country in a six-month period, a senior Iranian lawmaker announced.
"The security forces have apprehended 20 terrorist groups in Eastern Iran in the past six months," member of the parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad Reza Mohseni Sani said on Tuesday.

He reiterated that Iran is fully monitoring the activities of the terrorist groups trying to enter the country.

Mohseni Sani's remarks came few days after the Iranian Intelligence Ministry announced that security forces have arrested 30 people with links to the Al-Qaeda terrorist group.

On Friday, Iranian Deputy Intelligence Minister Ali Khazayee said the ministry has arrested 30 members of the Al-Qaeda terrorist group in last Iranian month (April 21-May 21).

Khazayee said that the ministry has done significant moves to confront those undermining security in the country.

He further added that since September 11, 2001 event, his Ministry has seriously been active in anti-terrorist campaign, particularly against Al-Qaeda terrorist who have tried to destabilized the country.

The official also said that the terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), who are committing crimes in Iraq and other Islamic countries, have in past years been supported by the Zionist regime of Israel and the US.

The official added that Takfiri groups, specially the ISIL, have problems not only with Shiite Muslims, but also with Sunni ones, and they showed this in the recent crimes in Mosul, Iraq.

On Thursday, Iranian Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alavi underlined that his ministry can identify and defuse enemies' plots in the shortest time possible.

"In most case the enemies of Iran do not believe that they have fallen within the intelligence monitoring of our forces," Alavi said.

The Iranian intelligence minister pointed to Iran's intelligence exchanges with other world countries, and said, "We have interactions with many world countries and Iran's intelligence dominance over several areas such as international terrorism, drug trafficking and organized crime have caused other countries to show interest in interacting with the Intelligence Ministry."
