Moscow, Dec 21, IRNA Former Russian parliamentarian said Saturday that approval of President Hassan Rouhani?s proposal against violence and extremism at the United Nations indicates that Tehran?s status has been promoted at the international arena.
Speaking to IRNA, Shamil Sultanov, once a deputy at Russia?s State Duma, said that approval of Iran?s proposal by majority of votes at the UN was a diplomatic victory for the government of Presidnet Rouhani.
The UN General Assembly on Wednesday (December 18) overwhelmingly voted for President Rouhanis proposal which calls on all nations across the globe to act agianst violence and extremism.
President Rouhani made the proposal in an address to the UN Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25.
Sultanov said that the Iranian President succeeded to improve Iran?s internatioal status in a short period of time which was hardly more than three months.
