The Iranian national junior team has gained a 3-1 victory against host Turkey in the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship to stand on the prestigious fifth spot of the tourney.
In their last match of the tournament, the Iranian volleyballers beat Turkey at Baskent Volleyball Hall in the Turkish capital Ankara on Sunday.
The Iranians lost the first set 19-25 but were quick to respond as they took advantage of the Turks mistakes and won the second set 25-21.
They won the next set 25-18 thanks to a shining performance by Milad Ebadipour and Javad Hosseinabadi, who were unstoppable at the net.
The Turkish players tried to recover but lost the fourth and final set 18-25 due to plenty of errors they made.
On August 26, Iranians ended their Pool B campaign with 12 points after overpowering Mexico 3-0. Iran defeated Egypt 3-0 in its Round of 16 match on Wednesday, but lost to Brazil 0-3 in the quarterfinal encounter on Friday. In a 5th-8th semifinal game on Saturday, the Iranians blanked Argentina 3-0.
The FIVB Men's U21 World Championship kicked off in Turkey on August 22, and ended on September 1.
Russia won the tourneys championship after trouncing Brazil 3-0. Italy and France gained the third and the fourth places, respectively.
