IRNA - Iranian foreign minister's aide for political affairs Hussein Qaribi says Iran is the undisputed power in countering terrorism in the whole region.


'Iran with its vast area, large number of neighbors and long sea and land borders is like a safe island for its population of 80 million and is the undisputed power in countering terrorism in the whole region,' Qaribi said at a local ceremony marking the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism.

He said paying tribute to the victims of terrorism means preventing terrorists from attaining their main goal that is to portray the victims of their acts of terrorism as evils.

Referring to a map depicting terrorism-related incidents in various parts of the word ranging from North America and Europe to the Middle East, Africa, South and East Asia, he said the map indicates a country with the least cases of terrorist acts or insecurity in recent years and that country is Iran.

The map prepared by an American university shows in the best possible manner Iran's status and performance in the face of terrorism, Qaribi said.
