Director General of Iranian Northern Railway Yousef-Geran Pasha made the above remark and said that Iranian Northern Railway will be electrified with the cooperation of Russia.
He said, the project to electrify Iranian northern railways will be put into operation, costing 1.2 billion, in cooperation with Russian side within the framework of joint venture project.
Electrification of railways is the largest and most important project in the Iranian northern railway in the current Iranian calendar year in 1397 (started March 21, 2018), he said and put the value of this giant project at one billion and 200 million euro.
So far, several expert-level meetings have been held with the Russian side and it is expected that operation of electrification of northern railways will commence in the current year in 1397 (started March 21, 2018), he maintained.
Construction of Sari-Ghaemshahr railway project in two lanes is the other project in Iran Northern Railway, he said, adding, this giant project is funded by Mazandaran Provinces governor-generalship in such as a way that superstructure and substructure of the project will be put into operation by the provincial governor-generalship and Iranian Northern Railway respectively.
Turning to the construction operation of Sari Railway Station project, Geran-Pasha said, we are holding a tender for the construction operation of this railway project. However, we will witness the start of construction operation of this railway station in Sari city before the termination of the current year.
In conclusion, Director General of Iranian Northern Railway Yousef-Geran Pasha referred to the increase in cargo transport capacity in northern Railway project and added, we are seeking to get the lions share of transit freight. Also, carrying wheat by railroads has been put atop agenda which will start in the very near future.
