Tehran, Oct 29, IRNA � Iranian Foreign Ministry rejected claims that Iran has failed to win the vote of the United Nations Human Rights Council in favor of its membership in the body.


The Foreign Ministry Media Department in a statement reaffirmed that the news was false.

It stressed that contrary to what some sites and social media have claimed Iran never sought candidacy for the United Nations Human Rights Council so the news is baseless.

Saudi Arabia, China, Egypt, Iraq, Japan, Hungary and Croatia had applied for the membership in the body.
