Informed source denies Kerry-Zarif phone call

Bangkok, March 10, IRNA An informed source at the Foreign Ministry has rejected a US spokesman recent claim that Secretary of State John Kerry had talked to his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Irans latest missile test.

Speaking to reporters at the Thai capital, the source said that Kerry has been asking for a telephone conversation but that did not happen due to the Iranian Foreign Ministers ongoing visit to the East Asia.

During the past week, Kerry has sent email seeking for a telephone conversation with the Iranian Foreign Minister, the source told reporters adding that the call has 'not been made yet due to Zarifs ongoing tour to the East Asia.'

The Iranian Foreign Minister is currently in Thailand on the fourth leg of his East Asian tour which has so far taken him to Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei.

He added that one of the topics to be discussed by Kerry was Irans latest missile test.

Iran has successfully test fired a number of its missiles on March 8 on the last stage of a massive military drill dubbed Velayat Strength. The missiles were fired from different places by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
