Iran parliament speaker urges visa waiver program with Kyrgyzstan
Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has called for a visa waiver programbetween Iran and Kyrgyzstan, saying the move could essentially boost tourism and trade activities between the two countries.

In a meeting with visiting KyrgyzPresident Almazbek Atambayev on Saturday, Larijani said Iran is ready to promote the level of economic and trade engagement with Kyrgyzstan.

The visa waiver between the two countries can also significantly help the promotion ofthe level of relations between private sectors and merchants in the two countries,Larijani said during the meeting, adding that the programalso boosts the tourism industry.

The Iranian official said Tehran seeks to increase cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in the framework of regional and international organizations, adding that the significance of such collaboration is doubled when one considers some Western governments double standards in dealing with issues like human rights.

The Kyrgyz president, for his part, highlighted the cultural and religious proximity between the two countries, saying the two sides can intensify their cooperation in various fields.

Atambayev also called for more collaboration between the parliaments of Iran and Kyrgyzstan, saying increased engagements between the two legislatures could facilitate the expansion of bilateral ties.

The Kyrgyz president also called for an improvedtransportation networkbetween Iran and Kyrgyzstan, which he said could be realized through the establishment of direct flights between Tehran and Bishkek.
