A joint Symphony Orchestra of Iranian and Austrian musicians is slated to present programs in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
The orchestra will perform Russian composer Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9 during a concert at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.
“The symphony has not been presented in Iran for a period of 36 years,” said the orchestra director Maziar Yunesi.
Iran’s eminent musicians Nader Mashayekhi, Azin Movahhed and Mohammad Reza Tafazzoli have been selected to collaborate with the orchestra.
Shostakovich’s symphony No. 9 is an ironic parody of Russian composer and pianist (1906–1975).
Iranian-Austrian Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to be held in September, 2014.
