Police arrest young Iranians who danced in “Happy” video

21 May 2014 - 14:46

Iranian youth who posted a video of themselves on YouTube dancing to Pharrell Williams’ song “Happy” have reportedly been arrested by Iran’s morality police.
Tehran police chief Hossein Sajedinia announced on national television that all the people involved in the video have been identified. He warned that these young people had been “duped” and the video-maker had told them the contents would never be posted on the internet.

The video, which was posted on YouTube one month ago, shows three young men and three young women dancing and having fun to the tune of Williams’ song.

Some reports indicate that 13 people have been arrested in connection with this video, but no official reports have been published.

Pharrell Williams’ hit song “Happy” has become a global hit, inspiring hundreds of similar video remakes that have been posted to YouTube.
