Intelligence Minister stands up for privacy

1 May 2014 - 13:23

Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi says people are entitled to feel assured that their privacy is not being invaded.
ISNA reports that at a meeting to introduce the head of the Hormozgan intelligence department, Alavi said: “The people must feel there is no invasion of their privacy and that their life and property is secure. We have no right to sneak into their lives.”

He added: “Islam stresses the value of joy and security and will not condone oppressive conditions because it believes security should be coupled with peace.”

He then went on to add that he has called on all Intelligence Ministry officials to “behave properly and appropriately.”
