An Iranian parliamentary delegation is scheduled to visit South Korea next week to discuss the promotion of bilateral ties with the East Asian country.
Iran's Majlis Director General for International Affairs Hossein Sheikholeslam said on Monday that Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi will head to South Korea on April 21 at the head of a four-member delegation.

The parliamentary official noted that the visit will take five days during which Iranian lawmakers will meet with different South Korean politicians and lawmakers, including the Korean parliament speaker, to discuss bilateral relations.

Sheikholeslam noted that the visit takes place at the invitation of Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Trade and Unification Committee of the Republic of Korea’s National Assembly Ahn Hong-joon and in response to his November 2013 visit to Tehran.

In January 2013, South Korean President Park Geun-hye hailed her country’s longstanding relations with Iran, stressing that Seoul attaches great significance to the expansion of ties with Tehran in all fields.

Iran is reportedly the fifth largest crude oil supplier to South Korea after Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
